Dr. Saki is a senior engineering professional with 18 years of international experience spanning construction, mining, water resources, energy, and sustainability. He has delivered industrial facilities, transportation systems, and water and sewer infrastructure projects with a combined value of approximately US$50 billion, successfully leading interdisciplinary teams across South Asia, North America, the Middle East, Central Africa, and Europe. His career bridges academia, industry, and government, including service on the Prime Minister’s Task Force on the Gemstones & Jewelry Sector and contributions to mega-scale infrastructure projects in the United States.
A distinguished scholar, Dr. Saki is a Fulbright Master’s Fellow (U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs) and a CDC-NIOSH Ph.D. Fellow. He earned his Ph.D. in Mining & Earth Systems Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, an M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering with distinction from the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore. He has served as Assistant Professor of Mining Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines and as Associate Professor of Mining Engineering at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Pakistan. He has authored 37 peer-reviewed publications on infrastructure, water resources, mineral resources, energy, and transportation in leading international journals.
His research and policy interests center on the political economy of earth resources, the role of natural resources in national and regional security, and the interdependence of human, ecological, and strategic security in advancing sustainability.
